CENTRE FOR URBAN MANAGEMENT STUDIES COLLEGE OF HUMANITIES
the Centre for Urban Management Studies (CUMS) was established in 2016 in the University of Ghana (UG), under the College of Humanities with the objective to provide a comprehensive and multi-disciplinary setting for conducting innovative research, teaching and public outreach activities on the management of the urban built environment.
The Center is currently inviting application for its Ph.D./MPhil/MSc programs in Urban Studies. Successful applicants will enroll in September 2023.
Eligibility criteria for MPhil/MSc Urban Studies at UG
Prospective students for Ph.D. must have;
- Master`s degree in urban studies or related fields
- the Ph.D. Urban Studies program shall be a full-time program of four years(8 semesters)
Prospective students for MPhil/MSc Urban Studies must have;
- a good first degree in the social sciences, engineering sciences, health sciences, natural sciences, Law, Business Administration and Communication Studies is the basic requirement. Applicants may be required to a selection interview to gain admission.
- the Msc. Urban Studies is a sandwich/ modular program (online/ in-person).
- candidates seeking MPhil Urban Studies must first complete Msc. Urban Studies coursework and obtain the necessary recommendation.
- for candidates whose first language is not English, a certificate of proficiency is required.

Interested applicants should:
- complete an online form on the University of Ghana Graduate Admission Page
- Provide copies of transcripts, first degree certificate and MPhil proposal (concept note).
